About to buy my first revolver
Just got back from the gun shop. I saw a nice Ruger SP101, and I'm happy to say that I'm picking her up next week! Pics to follow.

Re: About to buy my first revolver
Congrats!
I've had an SP101 for years. Great shooter. It's a bit heavier than a typical compact revolver, but it makes .38s a pleasure and full house magnums are easy to manage.

Re: About to buy my first revolver
I recommend the 3" version. Since it's already a heavy gun I opted for the longer barrel and am not disappointed. I've other, lighter, smaller snubbies.

Re: About to buy my first revolver
Friend of mine has a 101...Nice gun, a little on the heavy side for a combat revolver, but it sure does shoot nice. Even +P magnums are easy to handle in it because of the weight. Just make sure you wear some good ear protection, the .357 mags and that short little barrel get noisy!
