Sheriff took the day off
Today was my 21st birthday, and what better way to celebrate than exercise me my second amendment rights? Went to the court house with my LTCF application filled out and the lady said the sheriff might be in tomorrow. If he was, he'd mail it tomorrow after he runs it. Pretty disappointing because he issues within 15 minutes, but I have to wait a week. I guess I could start saving up for that Wilson Combat CQB Compact that I wanna order soon! Really wanted to shoot today though, but not a fan of trying to be one of the exceptions with transporting. Soon enough, I'll be joining the rest of you in the fight for our rights

Why couldn't the lady at the counter do it?

Thanks. No clue why. My guess, she messed one up before and isn't allowed to anymore... I asked why and she just said that he had to run it... Bummer too cause I wanted to grab the old Beretta out of the safe and run to the club. I guess it'll have to wait another week.

Re: Sheriff took the day off
Here is one to toss out there. Are there any legal requirements on acceptance/ processing/issuance of license to carry firearms besides the 45 day requirement upon receipt?
For instance, could a Sheriff's office legally be open only one day a year for one hour to accept LTCF applications? This doesn't appear to be the case here, as the application was accepted, but one can think of one county that just closes the office for weeks at the end of the year.
I would hope that the 'shall issue' requirement could not be avoided in this way.Last edited by Mosinshooter762; December 30th, 2010 at 07:56 PM.

Re: Sheriff took the day off
Well, checked on status, and lady said the sheriff decided to go on vacation for maybe two weeks... There was a stack of applications 3 feet high today. I was the first in the pile. Hopefully they're doing first in first out, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. Why he just doesn't let the lady or a deputy run them, I don't know... She said now it could take up to 3 weeks instead of the 5 days I was told two days ago. Gotta love public servants and how they serve the public when they're good and ready. They had no problem taking my money!
