Propane question

A quick question for you guys in Monroe county. I am currently using Amerigas for my propane but would like to shop around.

Anyone have a company they can recommend preferable if you know their prices are better than Amerigas. This is not a definite deal breaker because I prefer to go with a smaller guy anyway for the usual better customer service.

Any help available is appreciated, thanks for your time.

BAM, what do you not like about Amerigas? I find that they have good customer service, i deal with their local office out of Stroudsburg not their national office and i get good service from them.

BAM, what do you not like about Amerigas? I find that they have good customer service, i deal with their local office out of Stroudsburg not their national office and i get good service from them.

I initially had no issues with them but I asked to be sent paperwork regarding one of payment plans. I had discussed it at length over the phone but wanted them to send me everything so I could run all the numbers on paper and visually see it.

Without agreeing to the plan or signing the required paperwork they put me on the plan. The thing is that how they set the average and how we use propane (very small amount) had us paying about twice as much as we would if paying off in one lump sum. This gets resets to how much you actually use after the first six month cycle but It was not worth it and I was just really doing a little research to begin with.

I started calling after receiving the first bill asking why the plan had been started and was assured It was a mistake that would be corrected. Four bills later I finally got them to fix the mistake but it took another month to get them to take of the late charges for unpaid monthly bills that were never owed to begin with.

It kind of turned me off to them but If I do stick with them I will only deal with the local office, I always contacted the 1-800 national number.

Yes , the local office is much easier to deal with, at the national office everything is automated as you found out.

Also as one of the other Guys mentioned, Pennywise is a very good company to deal with, i get my Heating oil from them since 2006, .They have a service plan too.

If you are not from Pennsylvania you might find them a bit laid back and informal, which i like, but they are a good company that always keep their word.

Thanks for the advice, will definitely look into Pennywise as laid back and informal is what I would prefer.
