Default Pistols in TV & Movies: Why do they all rattle?

Ever notice that for the most part, when pistols are being handled, passed, carried, handed to someone else, etc, in films and TV shows, they all rattle (make "pistol noises"). What do they do to them for the effect? Loose mag springs? Something else? It just seems odd to me, as with the exception of one magazine in one of my pistols, I've never (owned about 20 pistols over time), heard this in the "real world".

Sound are effects added during production to add "realism".. I doubt they rattle for real on set. What little noises my guns make would hardly pick up on a microphone at filming distances.

Both my mags in my M&P fullsize rattle alittle if I am running or moving abruptly while carrying the gun or if I shake it. But it doesnt sound anything like the clickity clack sounds guns make when they are handled in the movies. I also love how they increase the volume of the hammer cocking in some of the movies or how when the people throw down their guns in the movies it sounds like they weight 50 lbs.

I hear that every time I cock the hammer back on my Glock or release the safety.

'cause racking the slide is "dramatic"

I also love it when in a TV show the mere act of drawing a Glock and pointing it at someone sounds like you just racked the slide on your pump shotty.

    Realism FTW!

Or they number of times you've seen a glock shot until it's empty, but it's not locked back and they keep on pulling the trigger, and some how the trigger is magically reset so it keeps going click.

    Correct. But you mean post-production.
