Default HELP WITH COLT OFFICERS MODEL

the rear site (dove tail) is loose and slides off. i can only see a roll pin or what appears to be one under it.
how are these supposed to be held stationary?

Are you asking about a Colt Officer's Model Match ( vintage target revolver) , or a Colt Officers ACP (mini 1911)?

Either way almost all dovetailed rear sight are held in place by the friction of the tight taper fit. One way to tighten them is to use a center punch on the bottom flat of the rear sight. Making a few light punch marks will displace some metal and make the fit a bit tighter. Punch only on the sight , do not damage the dovetail in the gun. A drop or two of Loctite will help matters.
