Considering a deep cover revolver
I'm looking for a new small thin secondary carry gun to use where I cant carry my primary because of size. I've been using a Beretta tomcat and frankly I'm not feeling it. The small thin size is perfect but it's the dependability I have an issue with. I've had failure to eject issues on more than on occasion and I need this secondary to be reliable because I secretly carry it in a shitty shady area on a daily basis. I've been carrying in a smart carry. Pocket carry isn't an option. I plan to carry the revolver the same way if its small enough..
I've been throwing the idea around about a small hammerless revolver. Any suggestions? Since I've never owned a revolver,If I were to look at used what common things should I look at to make sure it's not abused junk.

Re: Considering a deep cover revolver
My wife has a S&W 642. Great little gun.

My pick would be the Ruger LCR, preferably with laser grips

I have a S&W 642 for this purpose. I've had it for several years and it has been very dependable.

Re: Considering a deep cover revolver
I like my Ruger LCR a lot. It's relatively inexpensive, really light, and shoots great. Of course, as a light weight .38, it's got a bit more recoil than a heavier gun would.

Re: Considering a deep cover revolver
I'm going to have to go down to ace sporting goods and look at the various revolvers mentioned by you guys who responded. My main concern is thickness. I dont have much control over the pants I will be trying to conceal it in so thats my main concern. I have to conceal and not be limited too much as far as movement is concerned. If anyone has any other suggestions please keep posting.

Re: Considering a deep cover revolver
Just so you know. I had a S&W J frame .38 Special. It was a 638 with the shrouded hammer. Five shots. It occupied pretty much the same space as a S&W M&P 9c. That holds 12+1 rounds of 9mm. Virtually the same width, same height, and same length. Which would you pick? I love revolvers, and own a number. But when I carry, round count has a lot to do with it.
