Marines Had To Disable Rifles
I did not see this here anywhere. Did anyone post the story about the Marines being forced to remove the bolts from their guns to march in the Inauguration?
“Didn't know the Marines had to take the bolts out of their rifles for the Inaugural,” an email forwarded to Gun Rights Examiner from a United States Marine Corps source observed. “Wonder if someone can explain why [they] would be marching in the inaugural parade with no bolts in their rifles!”

Re: Marines Had To Disable Rifles
Military parade rifles are always disabled in some way or another. Removing a bolt is not the only way to render a firearm inoperable. I'll bet you all the tea in China those Navy M14 bolts had their firing pins removed.
Let's not allow our imaginations to run wild.

It would not surprise me. Most Marines that I've known are freedom loving, gun owning Americans. The exact sort of people this administration seems to despise and fear.

The same reason we had to take them out when we deployed and flew on a commercial plane. All bolts were removed and locked in an ammo box.

People calling themselves an "Examiner" should do some examination of the facts before they write these things.

Ehhh I dont see the big deal, doesnt appear they were security forces. I was in the Army for 8 years and attended a MJC. Parade rifles are always inop, often in more ways than one. Same with drill rifles. Hell I was in boot camp during 9/11 and we had to set up security check points on base, we had rubber ducks issued to us.

Re: Marines Had To Disable Rifles
Agreed, no ammo, no issue but how do you guarantee no ammo? Removing the bolt and tagging and locking in a box, the platoon sargent carried. It was not a big deal. Knives, leathermans were all ok.
Were were also in commercial airports, JFK, Paris and Pécs so maybe that had something to do with it.
I know the Army I saw had a few morons. It would be one of those having a ND and shooting out a window at 30,000 ft.
