    Default AK Owners?

Any AK or AR -15 owners on this board?

If so, I would appreciate suggestions on where good shooting places (public) are located. Looking for an area to shoot w/ lots of room. Have been to the areas' public ranges and try to go at "off" times to aviod inferring w/ others since my AK ejects rather agressively.

    Thanks!

Public places to shoot.... The only publicly accessible places to shoot are the game lands. SGL 230 is north of Carlisle. SGL 242 is north of Dover.

242 gets the whack jobs from York city. I have had some interesting experiences at this range - which is why I no longer shoot there. 230 is where that attorney got killed this past summer.

Semi-auto rifles at the public ranges can be an adventure. Not that the PGC doesn't allow them, but the PGC rules only allow 3 rounds in a rifle at a time. Plus, you get lots of Fudds** that use the public ranges. I have also been hassled by PGC officers about the use of my semi-auto rifles, but since I was following the 3 round rule and shooting responsibly (slow, aimed shots), he couldn't do much beyond a verbal hassling.

Your best bet is to find a private range to shoot at. I'm at the West Shore Sportsman's Association. The only restrictions on the rifle range are no full auto and no 50BMG. Other than that, standard safe use rules apply.

Right at the start of the new year would be a perfect time to join.

I am a member at West Shore. It's a nice, and well run, place. I like it there because there are less people and that affords me more time to provide instruction to my kids. At the public range, I spend too much time ducking all the sweeping guns.

If you are in Mechanicsburg, join the Mechanicsburg Sportsman Assoc.
I've belonged there for a couple years and it is a fine place.

Will aslo suggest staying away from the game commission ranges, they are low on the safety and high on the attitude that rifles are for hunting, once a year.
