Community wants safety regulation for gun stores
Heeding God’s Call is preparing to reach out to Mike & Kate’s and come to terms with the group without a need for protest.
“For Mike & Kate’s gun shop, the first step is to identify people in the neighborhood who are concerned,” Kauffman says. “We need to start having a conversation that sort of grows from the neighborhood up. You know, it’s not a template that Heeding God’s call is kind of imposing. It’s not the point. It’s like, who here in this neighborhood hears a call to address this particular piece of gun violence prevention.”
In 2006, according to the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, people with guns murdered 27 people in Australia; 59 in England and Wales; 60 in Spain; 190 in Canada; 194 in Germany; and 10,177 in the United States.
“We got a problem,” Kauffman says. “It doesn’t have to be this way.”
So, who are those people in the Northeast who want to have a conversation about ways to hold gun shops accountable?
“That’s the first step,” Kauffman says. “Stay tuned.”
Oh noes!

Re: Community wants safety regulation for gun stores
In 2008, there were "37,261" drunk driver fatalities in the US.
Clearly, the people of the community support stronger locks on garage doors, and more regulation of where you store your alcohol inside your house.==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson, 1791

Re: Community wants safety regulation for gun stores
The so called church is nothing but a clubhouse for frauds and liars. I love how they are taking the word of a convicted straw purchaser to further their cause for insanity. Obviously, their call is not for safety regulations but for the shut down of that store. These out of control zealots must be met head on.
The owners of the store should seek legal counsel for civil litgation against these religious frauds if any commerce is blocked during the course of any protest in the area of their store. Perhaps, a lawyer could seek a court injunction to limit the number of protesters and the distance they must be from the store's place of business. In the suburban counties such a court order could be easily obtained. Unfortunatly, Philadelphia government may not be so accomodating. Instead the city would be more likely to side with these enemies of firearm ownership.

Re: Community wants safety regulation for gun stores
I hope Mike and Kates don't sign anything ! I'll even go up there with some friends to help out in a counter-protest ! They are not going to bully a store owner out of buisiness ! We who love the 2nd amendment will not let this happen ! The people who straw purchase should get an automatic 25 years in jail, that's how you put a stop to it ! If you use a gun to commit a crime or in a crime, even if the trigger is not pulled, 25 years ! If they would punish the offenders then maybe those thinking of violating the law would change their mind ? Make the penaties stiffer, banning firarms from the law abiding is not the answer !
