Re: open carry
As to the "are you asking for trouble?".
Well, not generally. There have been some incidents but of course open carry is not common in many areas. We're working on it though
There are numerous OC journal threads in the carry section I linked to earlier.

Re: open carry
I've never told my children that I have guns. I've also not told them that I have tools, or car, or dogs, or a job, etc.... There's never been a need to tell them, those things are just part of everyday life. They learn from example and simple basic instructions how to handle, treat, and use these things. Questions are always welcome, and answers are as complete and accurate as possible. My 4 kids range in age from 15 to 27 and they've been around guns since birth. I couldn't begin to know when they started to become aware that guns are something that not everyone has or likes, but they have always been taught that they aren't toys and need to be treated with respect.

Re: open carry
Mine have known from an early age and have been trained with them at an early age. I wear mine in the house, mowing the yard, going to the mail box....and I've bought guns for my grand children when they were babies.
