Re: Falls Township Rifle/Pistol Association members
I personally know the people running the silhoutte matches at Falls. The matches are run with safety first in mind. There are always a couple of people that do not like to follow the rules ( whether it be a firing range or whatever). If Falls was such a terrible facility to shoot at why would there be 300 people on a waiting list? Come out and see for yourself. I am sure you will enjoy yourself and be impressed by the way the matches are run. The pistol silhoutte matches are held the first Sunday of the month and the Lever Gun silhoutte matches are held the second Sunday of the month.
PM me if you want more info.

I agree with Jeff. The FTRPA club is a great club to be a member of. Everybody is always ready to help and give a hand.
I'm lucky to be a member there.
Come over for the silhouette match and you'll be impressed.

Re: Falls Township Rifle/Pistol Association members
Is the silhouette match open to the public (non-club, non-IHMSA member)?

Re: Falls Township Rifle/Pistol Association members
Both IHMSA and the Cowboy Lever Gun matches are open to the public. There is a small entrance fee for either match.
Matches start at 8AM.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I forgot that I have a pancake breakfast to go to Sunday morning. Hopefully I'll make it out next month.

Re: Falls Township Rifle/Pistol Association members
OK, Hope to see you there. You are noy far from the club. If you are interested we have an indoor silhoutte shoot every Thursday night. The animals are scaled down and you may use a .22 rifle or handgun; scoped or open, or you may use an air rifle or air pistol (scoped or open). We start at 7:00 PM but the range is set up at 6:00 PM for practice. Cost is $2.00. Great fun and great practice for the other silhoutte shoots. You do not need to be a member.

Re: Falls Township Rifle/Pistol Association members
I’d just like to make two comments.
1. Regarding the FTRPA rule that requires members to supervise guests:
I have been a member of the club since 1997 and have been serving as a board member since 2001. This rule was in existence when I joined, so it’s nothing new. Range qualification is required of all new members to ensure a familiarity with range rules and at least some degree of safe gun handling practices. We have no control over guests brought to the club so we are simply requiring the member to oversee adherence to range rules and principals of safe gun handling.
2. Outdoor Silhouette Competition:
I have been running the I.H.M.S.A. matches since 1998. When I started we had matches all year long, weather permitting. More recently, our matches have been scheduled for the first Sunday of the month from March thru December. I started shooting silhouette matches here sometime before I joined the club and the competition has been offered every year since then. We’re always looking for new shooters. Our matches are open to the public and I.H.M.S.A. membership is not required (but encouraged).

Re: Falls Township Rifle/Pistol Association members
I was the newbie at yesterday's IHMSA match. I was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed myself immensely, despite my poor shooting. It's at least worth the experience of shooting a pistol a hundred yards, not too many places where you get the chance to do that.
