Why one should always carry...
Not sure if this is the right spot to post, however, this will serve as motivation to everyone to carry ALL the time...

Re: Why one should always carry...
This occured at a school board meeting which more than likely occured on school property. Especially since it was a school security officer who took the gunman down. Carrying on school property is an at your own risk thing in PA.
18 Pa.C.S. § 912: Possession of weapon on school property
(a) Definition.--Notwithstanding the definition of "weapon" in section 907 (relating to possessing instruments of crime), "weapon" for purposes of this section shall include but not be limited to any knife, cutting instrument, cutting tool, nunchuck stick, firearm, shotgun, rifle and any other tool, instrument or implement capable of inflicting serious bodily injury.
(b) Offense defined.--A person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree if he possesses a weapon in the buildings of, on the grounds of, or in any conveyance providing transportation to or from any elementary or secondary publicly-funded educational institution, any elementary or secondary private school licensed by the Department of Education or any elementary or secondary parochial school.
(c) Defense.--It shall be a defense that the weapon is possessed and used in conjunction with a lawful supervised school activity or course or is possessed for other lawful purpose.
It's been discussed on this forum many times about self defense being an 'other lawful purpose.' However that will be for the court to decide. Due to the fact that the security guard ended up taking out the shooter and all of these people may have had a duty to retreat anyway, I really don't see how this is a good example of why you should always carry? I think that it might also be a bad idea to promote carrying on school property to someone who isn't fully aware of the risks and possible repercussions involved."Improvise. Adapt. Overcome."

Re: Why one should always carry...
I didn't mean to infer that one should potentially violate the law relating to firearms and school.
The point was that the unexpected and unimaginable happen at the least expected times, and being prepared to improve the odds when possible is appealing to me!
Didn't mean to step on your nerve. From what the news states, it sure didn't sound like the guys taking the fire had much opportunity to retreatLast edited by SecurityPRO; December 14th, 2010 at 11:50 PM.

Not a problem
It's always better to be prepared. I don't think that guys intentions were to kill anyone. He was looking for a suicide by cop. IMO."Improvise. Adapt. Overcome."

He was definitely enjoying being the one in control..... the one video certainly shows a healthy muzzle blast. The investigative report for this one will be interesting and probably provide information to learn from this event. What the heck was the lady with the pocket book thinking!?!
