Find someone with a track record of working on 1911's. Don't take to anyone who is a "jack of all trades" gunsmith. You don't want your gun bubba'd up. I can recommend a good smith in western PA that you can ship it to. If interested send me a PM.

Thanks for the replies. I'm planning a USMC MEU-SOC build, and have never built a 1911. I plan on doing some of it myself, but what's beyond my skills will be done professionally.

I'm near you, and I have a hacksaw, a Dremel and various grits of wet/dry sandpaper... I'll hook ya up on the cheap tip

J/K of course - As someone else posted, I also have heard great things about Evolution Gun Works (EGW) in Quakertown.

A guy who used to work for them runs Dell's Firearms on Rt. 309 in Montgomeryville...

I'm not much into 1911's, but I have heard their components and full builds spoken highly of...

    Regards,

    Bones

EGW is top notch in the gunsmith business and I'm fortunate to have a couple of his builds. Only problem is, they are not doing much gunsmith work anymore.

    From his web site:
EGW is out of the Gunwork business but we are still doing some custom machining jobs in the store.
