What rifles use 7.62x39?
7.62x39...
Besides the AK-47 and SKS, are there any other rifles in this caliber?
Christmas is coming... I have an itch for an AR, but ammo costs are an issue.
I currently own a Yugo SKS and I'm thinking it would make more sense to buy an AK so they could share ammo.
I can't think of any other options, so I thought I'd ask.
Thanks!I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Yes, CZ makes a bolt along with ruger. The ruger was a limited run. I think there are 1 or 2 more companys that have made rifles in this CAL also...

The Ruger Mini 30. It is 7.62x39. I don't know if they are still in production, the Ruger site isn't coming up at this time. There are several listed on GunsAmerica.com, but they aren't cheap. $650 and up. Gunbroker has one NIB for $645.95 and up.

Now that's just sick.
Like putting a F-ing Dodge(ack!)engine in my Chevy!
It does, however address my question and solve the dilemma of wanting an AR, but not needing another kind of ammo...

Re: What rifles use 7.62x39?
OK, questions regarding the "AR" in the above link. (http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_p/cv1033.htm)
If the rifle were "built", would the 7.62 parts be able to be swapped w/.223 parts?
It's an interesting idea, but I'm thinking that building a 7.62 AR would yield a firearm that COSTS as much as a .223 AR, yet performs(accuracy/effective range)like a much less expensive AK... am I wrong here?

Re: What rifles use 7.62x39?
I've no personal experience with AR's chambered in 7.62x39mm, but I've heard that many have magazine problems.
I would assume that accuracy would be much better than an AK style rifle, should be more firearm/ammo dependent more than caliber.
I'm sure someone else can shed some more light.Last edited by Lucas; November 21st, 2007 at 09:45 PM.

Re: What rifles use 7.62x39?
7.62x39 ARs have carious issues.
1. magazines, hicaps are difficult to come by, those that work that is. best mags so far are the AK/AR frankenmags sold by US mags. possibly the only steel mag they make that works its an AK mag with an AR15 tower grafted on the top.
2. Bolt problems. they hogged out the bolt face to such an extent that the bolt lugs break easily. If you buy a x39 AR15, buy extra bolts, you WILL break them..this does happen with Colts.
skip the x39 AR and buy a chep AK to shoot x39, it will serve you better.
