Westboro Church Plans New Philly Protests

PHILADELPHIA - The controversial Westboro Baptist Church has targeted two Philadelphia high schools and a Jewish Center for public protests in mid-December.

The Westboro Baptist Church’s Web site crashed on Thursday after it announced it would picket Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral this weekend in North Carolina.

But just before the crash, local blogs picked up that the radical group had told members to go to Philadelphia on December 20 to protest at Archbishop Ryan and Father Judge High Schools, and the Jewish Community Center.

MyFoxPhilly found a Google cached page that shows the church’s plan for Philadelphia.

The protesters plan to show up at Archbishop Ryan High School between 7:10 a.m. - 7:40 a.m.

“WBC to come to Archbishop Ryan High School to show the children at this school some truth for probably the only time in their lives. They have been taught a steady diet of lies their whole lives with a side of pride and rebellion,” the church says.

“You raise these demon-possessed brats to have no knowledge of the Bible, much less a true understanding of their God," the church said.

The second protest will be at the Jewish Community Center from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The third protest will be at Father Judge later that afternoon.

In April, the Church threatened at large protest at Temple but never showed up after Temple students threatened to meet the protesters head on.

The group is known for its anti-gay and anti-American messages.

Westboro Baptist is best known for picketing funerals of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq

The church plans its protests from its headquarters in Topeka, Kansas. Members live on a compound along with their leader Fred Phelps.

It seems as though these fucks are changing tack. The past couple of military funerals they've been met with big nasty counter protesters. So now it seems as though they're picking targets that aren't going to "fight back".

Yes....god idea guys....target students with less self-control that haven't mellowed with age or experience. This should be good.

That's the point. They want someone to attack them so they can sue.

Good for them when they file lawsuits against everyone concerned. They are attention whores who live to provoke a reaction. The best way to counter them is to ignore them, or to laugh at them

Imaging if we ignored or laughed at the anti-gun crowd. Well we do laugh since we know they are a bunch of fruitcakes but thats besides the point LOL.

Being a veteran and a graduate of that HS this is really personal. You couldnt pay me to stay away.

What a bunch of creeps to go protesting at military funerals singing that song "Your Going straight to Hell" ! Who are they to judge others and where they go after death, they are not God and only He can make such a Judgement ! They better watch what they say because God works in Mysterious ways and He May just send them to eternal damnation ! People need to start busting heads when someone disrespects a funeral !
I don't care who and what some of the replies to that statement are going to be, you don't mock or disrespect the dead that's just low ! We also do not judge because we too one day will be judged ! I can't stand these irritating ballbreakers, someone needs to do something about that bullshit ! I just like to see them protest a military funeral and all of the folks in the funeral party get up and kick their asses ! That would be a nice story for a change ! They are fucking assholes ! They7 should all get their jaws broken this way they can get them wired shut ! People are tired of hearing these fucks !

By all means show up, just don't be goaded into doing anything illegal.

Seems to methey forgot the way of Christ. It also seems like the pasture is trying to drum up money and membership.

Wow, this sure is not bringing the community together it is ripping people apart.
