Default Glock 21 or Sig P220?

Hey guys, I'm looking at picking up a .45ACP either the Glock 21 SF or the Sig P220. I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with. I like the consistent 5.5lb trigger and 13+1 capacity of the Glock. But I dislike how big and blocky it is. I like the Slim grip and build of the SIG and the fact that I dont own a SIG. However not sure how I feel about the DA/SA Trigger and the low capacity magazine. I have a Glock 19 9mm but and I plan on using the .45ACP 21 SF or P220 for work (court security). I believe of the Glock would be a good choice seeing as I am familiar with it and can carry the 21 SF on duty and the 19 off duty but I have heard much better things about the SIG. What do you guys think? Thanks for any help in advance!

Pick whichever you are comfortable with. However, the Sig comes with various fire control modes. For example, you can get the P220 with the DAK trigger (5-6 lb DAO), single action only (cocked and locked like a 1911) or the double action setup. The choice is yours.

I have carried both... I enjoyed the P220 DAK. It was a fun fun to shoot and a nice piece for the collection.

I have carried single stacks (the 220 and now 1911's) for about 7 years now.... it takes a little while to get adjusted to at the range but my mag changes are lightning fast now that you do so many at quals.

Sig quality has plummeted in recent years.

If you want a P220, look for a used one made before 2005. The G21 is a safer bet, today.

Oh Boy thats a tough one, i do not own a 21 but do own several Glocks and i do own a 220 carry, both awesome guns, but being that it is a work gun i would give the nod to the 21 for its higher capacity being that you could potentially find yourself in a shootout in court.

Agreed, or you can take it a step further and look for a W.German made 220. Which IMO were the best guns Sig ever made.

The Choice is yours, both are good guns. I would think since you are already familar with Glocks, it would be a no-brainer. But it comes down to a personal choice, For the cost of the SIG, You could almost buy two Glocks.

You'll have to let us know what you end up with.

I really like Sig's, however unless you can find a nice used P220 for a fair price I have to agree with others that the Glock is a better deal in your case.

I like to shoot the Sig better, but that is where it stops for me. For a duty weapon, I would go with the 21SF. Like Synergy has said, Sig has had some real issues with quality control lately. From what I understand, some machining has been done out of house (and out of spec) due to demand. Another great thing about the Glock for duty work, is your ability to swap the off duty 19 for a 30SF. When you leave work, you can carry a mag/cuff holder loaded with a 21 mag that will work fine in EITHER gun. Having an off duty that functions the same as your duty gun is pretty handy as well. I have both the 21 and a 30, and would not go back to Sig if someone gave me one for free. Dandy on the range, but lacking for duty work.

Dude, the standard glock 21 was always too big for me to hold and shoot comfortably. I waited till the 21 SF came out and bought one. i have around 1,000 rounds through it and its grip fits me just right. I am buying the 20 SF this spring as well..
