    Default Taurus 66

Anyone else out there that owns this revolver, and give me some feedback of their own ownership experience with it? Seems to be a decent revolver, I have put about 200 rounds through this one without any issues, and seems to be accurate, but I cannot get past the point that it is a Taurus, when I feel I should have a G100 or something.

I have a 689 "almost the same gun" for yrs and yrs and its been fine , I had another one other than that one that I sold , it was a good gun for the cash also.
If you loose sleep at night because its not a ruger , then go get a ruger , if you only feel bad cause of things you've heard ......... well so far its been good to you hasnt it?
One another note I have returned rugers , never returned a taurus "but that may change , never know"

I own a 651 .357 with the shrouded hammer. IMHO, I believe you are buying a name when you buy Ruger or S&W. Not that they aren't awesome examples of a quality firearm, but you can get just as reliable with Taurus snubbies/revolvers as well.

thats cool, I appreciate the input, and yes, to answer your question, it has been a good gun to me, so I cannot compain. It is accurate and has not given me a bit of problems so it is fine, I just wanted to get someone elses input.

Good point WMG, I guess I was unsure while getting it, and wanted to get a little support to let me know that I didnt make a mistake in getting it. This was my first Taurus

I'am glad you started this thread because I was about to do the same, I've been considering to buy the taurus 66 4" stainless as my first wheel gun but I wasn't sure whether to get a taurus or a smith&wesson 620 , you know what they say, "a smith is always a smith". Can't say the same about the price difference. I'm glad to hear good stuff about the 66 because now Im even more vonvinced I want it.

I have been happy with my 66. Mine is the 6" so it is very accurate. Out of the box, I had to make One (1) site adjustment, and that was it. It has been very reliable and very accurate from the beginning. I am happy, I just started the thread because never having owned one, and the fact being it wasnt one of the "big" brand names just concerned me a little with overall ownership, so I wanted to get the big picture from some other peoples opinions. I should have known not to ask such a dumb question with brands and the such, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

    I am very happy tho.

If you can find the most unreliable pistol thread in here, I'm pretty sure someone posted about a Taurus 66 that broke a mainspring.

    Nevermind, here's the post.

    Alright, it made the list!!!!!!!!

Well, to each his own, and I have got to stick with my message before that I do still like it. That link you gave even has some of the major brands being POS so you can't really rely on that to much now can you.

    Thanks for the link however.
