Kimber Ultra Carry II
I'm considering purchasing a Kimber UC II for CC. I'm sure there are a lot of folks who've had fantastic experiences with theirs (your feedback is welcome too) but I'm looking for:
...completely negative experiences
or
...issues experienced
and
...how well you shot yours, manageability-wise (i.e. big round, little gun)
The reason I'm taking the "glass half empty" approach is that there has been a large number of these for sale here and on other forums. Seemingly, there are people who've been disappointed with them or at least didn't like them enough to keep them.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I have the Ultra carry.
Drawbacks include that once you have one you will want another.
I am not partial to the way the ultra carry takes down.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Norm!!!!! ala Cheers.
I've seen a lot of that type of response. Is your's your EDC? What's your second or follow-up shot like in a two or more shot sequence? Sorry in advance for the interrogation. I haven't shot .45 in a long while.

Re: Kimber Ultra Carry II
You can not use my shot characteristics as a rule. I damaged my hand pretty badly when I was younger man. Just about took three fingers off. The pinky is permanently folded over. So my follow up shots could be better. But I do ok.
As a side note I brought two full size Kimbers home this past year.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Re: Kimber Ultra Carry II
i have two in the ucII size and one pro and one full size. and all the follow up shots seem to be the same to me. but as others have said follow up shots count a lot on the shooter too, not just the gun. i have been lucky and haven't had a single issue, other than i think their magazines are junk. i am a big guy so i can conceal a pro and full size with no issue, ucII's are my summer time guns.
i have seen quite a few as of recently negative reviews, like i said i have had no qualms except the mags, maybe i've been lucky, like anything else anymore you get good ones and bad ones, from guns to cars, etc etc and so on.
people will bitch that they are over priced, and not that i'm a gun snob because i know there are way better (and way costlier) 1911's out there, i guess i just like spoiling myself with spending a little more.....on just about everything. probably will be the downfall of my bank account and marriage, but she gets spoiled tooLast edited by svt98ryan; December 6th, 2010 at 09:15 PM.

Me too. (as I sit here in my Doc Martens and my Patagonia down jacket...)
Having the best stuff possible is nice, but having nice stuff that isn't overly expensive is good too. You usually do get what you pay for.
I suppose it's different for different folk. While I might think a $300 jacket is important I shoot the cheapest, dirtiest, steel cased range ammo I can find. YMMV
PS I also am looking at a UCII.Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

Re: Kimber Ultra Carry II
I've had one since 04 and had no issues other than the mags. which as I understand they've fix since then. The follower is the problem which could be fixed with a kit from wilson combat.

Re: Kimber Ultra Carry II
Having shot a Super Carry Custom, I can say that it is a very nice 1911. I like its weight (Slide/Frame) better than the UCII. (Which I have never shot, but have held)
The M1. Smackin' the bastards since 1932.

Re: Kimber Ultra Carry II
I'm on my second UCII because I traded my first away foolishly and regretted it until I picked up another. That being said they are complete garbage. I'm throwing mine in the trash but not before I cut it into pieces with a band-saw. I really hate these guns...if you really want to call them that.
No seriously though...I felt naked without one after trading it away and spent the following months trying to track down another. Now that I have it I won't be getting rid of it any time soon. It is my EDC and I don't even look at my Glock anymore. The small frame has no issues with the .45acp round. It handles it more than adequately. Then again it could be my meat hooks as well...but all my shots go where I want them to. It also feels comfortable to hold/shoot as well.
