Default Re: Ruger Mark III Target, firing pin failure

Finally got to take it out to the range! Smooth, accurate, and very pleasant to fire.

Had about 3 ejection problems I think it was the ammo though, Federal blue bulk box. A couple rounds were real weak, one seemed like a flare. I dropped the mag, cleared it, & pushed a rod down the pipe to make sure the bullet actually left the barrel. I had enough time to run about 300 rounds through. Still pretty tight but I expect that.

After a few mags to cycle the gun a few times it was grouping (with me behind the trigger) at about 1-1/2 to 2" @ 15yrds with the occasional stray (bulk ammo) Next time I think I will take some CCI Stingers or something a little higher quality for a more consistent grouping/evaluation. Also go for more distance.

All in all after a rough start I am glad to have a Ruger Mark series 22LR in my collection again. I learned on one, now I have one to teach my daughter with.

Don't use Stingers or any other hyper velocity ammo in your pistol, it's not recommended by Ruger. Get some Mini Mags or Blazers, or even the standard velocity.
Glad your pistol is alive and working well.
When you're ready add the VQ upgrades and a red dot sight system of your choice, you wont be sorry...

    Or maybe a scope...

    Best of luck!

I never heard that before. I have run them through all my Mark series pistols. Granted not every range trip, cost reasons, but they are a sweet change for accuracy. I have heard before they are a good round to "break in" with. I will have to research this a little now. Thanks for the heads up.

Mine shoots the best with CCI standard velocity ammo. About 30 a brick. I have shot MANY bricks. Here it is.
