Can a dog conceal carry
I go jogging on paths in the woods and I would feel much more comfortable carrying. My ideal solution would be to have my dog carry the gun in her back pack. Is this legal in PA with a CC permit ??

Re: Can a dog conceal carry
[ETA: See post #22. It may not be legal.] but doesn't seem like a very good idea to me. If you actually need your gun, I'd expect it'll take way too long to get to it.

Re: Can a dog conceal carry
Wow. I thought my "Can I OC on a Waverunner" thread (in jest) was original. LOL!
I'll let someone else play with the "legal" portion, but I'll add that I can't for the life of me see how see that could be an "ideal solution" - at all.
Better than not having one, maybe, but FAR from "ideal".
How do you retrieve the handgun when the dog is either "in the fight" to protect you, or... well, I hope you see what I'm getting at.
Should be an interesting thread.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

I just want to see a chihuahua hold up a .45 and say, "Go ahead, make my day."

Re: Can a dog conceal carry
I highly suggest spending more time to do some reading, watch some training videos from Thuder Ranch and Gunsite and get some training yourself. (General disclaimer to odd questions)
Are you familiar with the first rule of a gunfight? Have a gun! A gun on a dog means that you do not have a gun. Therefore you are not in a gunfight, you are being victimized if you do need a gun.
This is a semantic point, in Pennsylvania it is a LTCF not a concealed carry permit. Small point, yet it illustrates that you should spend some more time researching and learning about the topic you wish to explore. Here is a fun video for you:
I like Clint Smith and what he teaches. In the above video your handgun being on a dog makes you "wrong."
Spend some time investigating, buying and trying out various carry methods. The dog idea, is really really stupid. You have to pardon me being so blunt, but it is and you can conduct a little experiment concerning this. Get some firecrackers, take your dog to the back yard and stand next to your dog and light the firecrackers off at your feet. (wear eye protection or the safety police will get you) This little experiment should answer your questions about dog carry.
Carrying a handgun is not comfortable, it is for a reason. If we all did things just for comfort purposes we would all be adorned in velvet, Uggs, coon skin caps and drive El Dorado's.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Re: Can a dog conceal carry
OK, so why CONCEAL carry? Why not OPEN carry for Ol Yeller?
A slick tactical holster and .45 would give a GREAT image for would be thugs.
Or, or just teach the canine to shoot the darn thing for ya?
