Default can i carry at work?

I work in the maintenance department at a public building. Management found that a few of us carry concealed, and they did not like it. They sent everyone on staff an email saying that they are making it a rule that no one is allowed to carry a concealed weapon anymore. ...Is this allowed? am i required to listen to them? if not is their any documentation i can use to back my point?

Interesting,,, if it was CONCEALED, then how did they find out?

Looks like someone blew for everyone else.

Of course they can make the "rules". It is their property after all.

Yes, you're employer can prohibit you from carrying on company property. It is their right as a property owner. If you continue to carry against their wishes and they find out, you most likely will lose you job.

    The OP said "public building".

    Publicly owned?

If so, and it's not owned by the state (IE: municipal/city/county owned) then IMO, no, they can not bar you from carrying.

    18Pa.C.S.6120
§ 6120. Limitation on the regulation of firearms and ammunition.

    1. General rule. -- No county, municipality or township may in any manner regulate the lawful ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition components when carried or transported for purposes not prohibited by the laws of this Commonwealth.

Well, we need clarification then. I lean toward the feeling that a lot of people erroneously think that the local mall is a "publicly owned building".

Yeah, my initial thought was privately owned but open to the public.

Just because they can't prohibit you for carrying, doesn't mean they won't find a way to fire you if you are caught.

Carry at your own risk while at work. In this economy, jobs are hard enough to come by to take un-necessary risk.
When you are called a racist, it just means you won an argument with an Obama supporter.

This is true...They may just find some bogus ass reason to can you or even observe you and fire you for the smallest most illegitimate mistake. It is one of those grey areas I think...

Very possibly true. However, doing so would violate 6120 and is a misdemeanor 1, per 6119. Getting the DA to prosecute, and a conviction in court are very unlikely. Just another example of how we have completely lost control of our .gov

I disagree, it's not a gray area at all. It's law. Problem is that .gov officials are mostly scum bags, and will lie, cheat and steal (more than the average Joe) because they are more likely to get away with it.
