Stolen gun recovered in PA

I had a gun stolen a little over 3 years ago. I got a call last week that it was recovered during a search. What is the process that will happen now? Do I need to go to court? Someone said I might have to go, someone said that I may not have to go.
I dont understand why I would have to go if I filed a police report 3 years ago stating that it was stolen.
Has anyone else been in this situtation? If I do have to go to court, why?
