Default Metal Detectors at Club Oxygen in Harmar, PA

Just wanted to let anyone know who may end up in Harmar at Club Oxygen that when I was there on Saturday night, there was a uniformed LEO hanging out right next to their metal detector. Every customer must walk through the metal detector, if you empty your pockets and still set off the alarm, you will be subject to a TSA style pat-down by one of their security.

I was unable to get a chance to ask them about the specifics of their policy, but I think the metal detector means it's safe to say that no firearms legally carried or not are allowed. It's also safe to say I will not be going back there again.

I'm just curious... what are the benefits of entering?

Do they give free drinks all night? or give you money for being there a certain number of hours? Just wondering why people go there.

How is it legal for a twp resource (paid LEO) to be working a private business?

Residents should not tolerate such blatant abuses of their tax paid services going to exclusive benefit of a private business.

It's entirely possible that the business was paying the township for the cost of the officer's time, so there was no cost to the taxpayer.

There are no benefits. On the night in question it was to make the fiance happy.

I believe that this is precisely how it works. I think it's the same way that the Steelers and Penguins get Pgh police at all of the games, etc.

Same thing happens in construction zones where police presence is needed/required. The company pays the officer's hourly salary. (unless of course it's highway or public road work, then the tax payers are paying irregardless )

    Yep, I've hired cops myself.
