Today was perfect. Had an hour to myself on the pistol range. I got there at noon so I was surprised.

Cool Re: Tobyhanna SGL Range Reports

Range today with 5 shooters at one station, just takeing their turns.Sometimes a shooter will ask questions and always happy to oblige.Another pair of shooter show up with a Glock 19X and Taurus Tracker, the male watched his other trying to shoot the Glock with absolutley no hand or grip control, just watching her miss the paper target a Larger than life silhouette with every shot.did not want to hang around and see how this was goint to turn out.Shot the Glock 43 and Taurus G2 that does not get out of the safe much but works everytime. Now to wash the car the road to range is a dusty one !

    Greetings,

I'm contemplating buying the range permit and taking the kids (8 and 4 years old) over to the Tobyhanna range. The Pike range on Rt.6 is a few miles closer, but from what I am reading Tobyhanna seems to be the nicer of the two.

How busy does the range typically get during summer weekdays? Also, does this and in general other SGL ranges have rest room facilities nearby?

    Thanks.

Buying a hunting license would be cheaper than a range permit...And it's best to get there as early as you can before it gets crowded.

Keep in mind that Hunting season will be approaching and the added shooters sighting in their guns will take space.During the week usually works best, earlier the better .

I'm a NYS resident, and the PA nonresident hunting license is over $100 last I checked. The range permit is much cheaper at $30, although down the road when the kids are older I may get back into hunting and spring for a hunting license.

What sort of facilities if any are at the range? My 4-year old son does not give much notice before announcing he needs to make a potty run.
