"Monroe - Closed July 11 for maintenance."

i guess they updated their website.
haven't been in months but still my range of choice.
gotta get back on the shooting train, all i hear now is the sound of coins hitting the floor. my action sounds like an old cash register.
it's ruined my love for the chime of brass.
guess i could always go, blow a single magazine and just continue to make fake bang sounds, wouldn't be the weirdest thing we've heard of at one of these sgl's.

Edit: whens the last time they did lead remediation? might be the "maintenance"

They had Archibald closed to modernize, new benches, new roof not to long ago, maybe some up grades at Tobyhanna?

Great thought but given only one day closure doubt that they could get anything done but replace shot up backboards !

Archbald was originally listed as closed 06/14. I took that to mean closed 06/14 only, as they close the range for police and Lackawanna Junior College to use for the day. I called the Dallas office after the 14th and asked specifically about the pistol side, and the rep stated the rifle side only was closed and the pistol was open and OK to use. About a week later, they posted the entire range is closed until further notice.

Roof? You have a roof? The NW Pa. gamelands range has 6 two slot benches that haven't been maintained in at least 15 years, warped and full of splinters.

    You have a roof??

And one of the other guys said they have "grass" on the range he shoots at? Not cut down brush?

    Wow! Y'all have it made.

Stopped in around noon today. Guy and a gal at the pistol range, everything else empty...except for the trash bags. Parking lot covered in trash.
Didn't do any shooting, just wanted to check it out.

And.... you have a parking lot? Wow. A roof, grass, a parking lot. I'd pick up the trash myself if the NW Pa.range had any of those. Oh, wait, I already do that.

we only have grass if it's been dry. been to sgl127 plenty of times where it was a sheet of ice or mostly mud you sink into. parking lot is nice though.
i always leave with my mess and many more cases than i shoot whether they be steel/brass/aluminum even 5.56 plastic, always keeping an eye for unique rounds/cases/shells as well.

roadking, did you notice anything new? im curious as to why they closed.

Haven't been there in years (even tho it's only about 10 miles away), but the only thing I saw different was the concrete/cinder block seats were topped with either tar or black paint...real comforting on a 90+ degree sunny day and no roof.
I'd go if I knew someone to go with...otherwise, I will do me small cal at home, and for bigger stuff...either friend's place or Archbald.
