Friend in Bucks county interested in a hangun class
A couple of my friends live in New Hope, Bucks county.
They are interested in a handgun class, something similar to a handgun 101.
Anybody have any info?
Thanks!Last edited by Michele; November 24th, 2010 at 10:10 PM.

Re: Friend in Bucks county interested in a hangun class
Several locations and options.
NRA F.I.R.S.T. steps is about three hours, and is a good primer for handgun safety and getting to the trigger.
NRA Basic Pistol is about 8 hours, and goes more into depth on gun selection, ammunition types for various uses, and a couple other positions for 'target competition'.
From New Hope, Jason and Trish at JSHOLSTERS.com teach at Easton (outside) or Hellertown (inside).
Mike Wolfe at Wicen's Shooting Range (outside) in Furlong is a bit closer, and very good.
Bob and Joe at "team-life" teach int eh area around Southampton one on one, and use any local range you want, or Conestoga gun club.
Finally, I teach a "women's only" F.I.R.S.T. steps at Classic Pistol in southampton every month (except Nov -Dec) and there is a women instructor there (Donna Katz) who does the basic pistol.
Private/semi private instruction available.

Jason, and other instructors he has certified are great! I've sat under his/their instruction as both a student of NRA curriculum, as well as a class to obtain my own NRA instructor certification.
Jason has an account here. His PAFOA user name is js1050. You can find more about the classes he offers here.Last edited by gnbrotz; November 24th, 2010 at 09:23 PM.

Re: Friend in Bucks county interested in a hangun class
Thanks guys!
They haven't bought their handguns yet but were hoping to for Christmas. I told them not to make a handgun purchase just by looks or caliber, or by what people tell them. I told them to take a class so they can make a more informed decision purchasing a gun that suits them.
I'm going to get her to sign up here and look at this thread.
And yes, I'm sure they would prefer a class a bit tailored for women.

I saw Wicens mentioned, I can second them for the NRA Pistol Orientation class.
I went there about a year ago, I was as noobish as a noob could get and got one on one tuition with George Hancock that was worth every cent.
