    Default Loving my new XD!

I visited the one and only Grice Gun shop in Clearfield, PA, two weeks ago and ended up purchasing a Springfield XD 40 subcompact (used). I also looked at the Kahr P45 and Glock 30. I really wanted a 45, but price of the Kahr (new) was slightly out of my budget and the Glock (used) just didn't feel right.

Today I went out to the range and I have to say I am very pleased with the XD.

My nightstand pistol is a 1st generation Steyr 9mm and the triangular sights on it have spoiled me rotten, while my normal EDC is a Kel-Tec P3AT. My initial concern with the XD was it's double-stack mag and the additional width that comes with that. That being said, I feel much more comfortable shooting this as opposed to the P3AT; Acquisition is much easier and followup shots are much, much more accurate.

I'm currently waiting for a Crossbreed SuperTuck holster to arrive. When it does, I plan on making the XD my new EDC, and retiring the P3AT to the occasional ankle-carry-day.

    Just thought I'd share

    -Dave

Nice choice. Shooting the XD will definitely be easier then the P3AT.

By the way, if you ever wanted to carry the Styer I believe Atomic Dog makes a holster for them.

I picked up a new XD 40 Subcompact two weeks ago and absolutely love it. I'm also waiting on a Crossbreed Supertuck to arrive (Ordered last week). As soon as the holster gets here, the XD will be my new carry pistol.

That's awesome - How'd you get started in that? I've always wondered how that kydex stuff is molded. Do you use that, or something else to hold the gun in place?

Yea I use Kydex. It's just born out of necessity. I needed a holster and was waiting for one when they said 8 weeks, at 9 weeks I called and they told me several more weeks so I canceled my order and started making my own. So far it's working out pretty nice I have a few different styles made and really enjoy doing it.

This is for my girlfriends Kel-Tec P-32 and it wasn't finished at this point. I made this in like an hour at 1am and needed to dress the edges, they are rounder.

    This is my Kahr CW9

And this is my XD 3" and 4" was originally going to be IWB/OWB but I'm scrapping it to start again. I got slightly thinner Kydex in black and am making something that just looks better
