Buying 2 handguns at the same time application put on delay
Hello everyone;
First time here, great site lots of good info. Saturday I went to Freedom Armory to buy two guns a .22 ruger for my kids to shoot and a S&W .38 special for me to cc. The guy at the counter ran my info for the background check and comes back to tell me that my application was put on Delay. I already own a springfield xd9 so this is weird.
Can anyone tell me a reason why this happend?
Could it be possible that since I was buying 2 guns a the same time that raised a red flag?
Is a Delay the same thing as a denied?
Thank you guys for any info.

Did the store owner say you were put in delay or research? In any case he should have given you more info on the procedures to be followed.
This happens from time to time. It does not matter if you are buying one or more at a time.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Re: Buying 2 handguns at the same time application put on delay
Could be a many reasons...
Possiblely. Im could be wrong, but I do remenber hearing somewhere that dealer are required to report if someone is buying more then one handgun within week. Someone can verify this.
No. It could mean they were overwhelmed with backgroud check at the time, and simply put you on hold while trying to catch up, it could mean computer was down, or someone with similer name came up, and they needed to veryfy, your PICS request could went out in middle of shift change...
I was denied, once, because appearently, there were some paperwork transfer gritch on THEIR side back when INS dissorved, and became part of DHS.
I had to file paperwork to PSP, and waited few weeks until they figured out what happened. And Ultimatly was cleared to buy the gun I was buying.
There are more then a handful of people here in forum that were either put in research or denied for many(and most are stupid) reasons...Audemus jura nostra defendere

I've never heard of being put on delay.
However I was recently put into research when buying an AR receiver. It took 9 days to be approved. They have 15 days to make a decision. You will not know why UNLESS you are denied, at which point the dealer should give you papers to file an appeal.
For what it's worth, the guy at my shop said the call taker told him in 2010 more people will be put into research as a matter of routine.

This is true. But it should also not affect anything. The dealer needs to fill in the paperwork not the buyer.troll Free. It's all in your mind.
