Mini-30 vs. AK

For the price ($600-$800) is it worth it to buy a mini-30 or should I just get an AK in that price range? Anybody have a Mini-30?

go AK, many more accessories and mags can be had at a reasonable price!

depends on what rifle you like to shoot. 2 different rifles. Do you like the looks of the ak-47 and its history over the mini-30? I think the mni 30 is nice but i prefer the ak47 for what it is. I had a mini 30 about 10 or 12 years ago but i wasnt to crazy about it and opted to buy an ak. Since then i bought 2 more ak's. I have the cheaper romanian ones and for what its worth, they have never given me so much of a ftf or fte with the cheapest ammo known to man.

Arsenal SGL Series... They are true Russians that are a solid rifle for the money.

My recommendation is to grab a Norinco / Polytech AK in post AWB configuration and run it through 922r conversion.

Norinco and Polytech AKs are under-rated. It's a real shame they can't be imported any more, though the substantial numbers of them that were make up for it.

Get a WASR and spend the same amount as you pay for the rifle on mags and ammo. Then use what is left to take your wife or girlfriend out for a nice dinner to get you out of the doghouse..............

Aim Surplus, and CDNN have some good deals on mags lately.

I like the AK platform, myself, but get what's going to work best for your needs. As a SHTF gun, the AK would be great, but the surp ammo for them will probably dry up quickly.
