Default WASR 10 muzzle brake question.

I have a wasr10, and I purchased a tapco slant muzzle brake. My question is, when I thread it onto the barrel does the muzzle end have to sit flush with the lip in the brake? The brake has a lip in the middle of the inside. I can get it on tight but has about a 3/8inch gap between the muzzle and the lip.

    HUH?

The front sight block should have a tensioning rod that snaps into a groove in the muzzle brake. It doesn't get cranked on, it's supposed to sit at a slight angle, and they are almost never "tight". Are you talking about a gap between the front sight block and the brake? Or the end of the muzzle itself and the inside of the brake? Or the tensioning (detent) rod on the front sight block and the groove in the brake?

A picture or drawing would help, but if you have it threaded on the entire way then you did it right.

I just went and looked at my wasr 10. It has a factory installed slant brake and it appears that it is flush on the outside but not exactly flush on the inside as there are a few threads showing on the inside. As long as it is on a slant and locked into the push pin, i would say your good to go. I only have a crappy cell phone for pics at the moment so here are some pics i took that maybe slightly helpful, granted i couldnt get a great pic of the inside.

That does not matter. As long as it is installed as far back as it will go and still catch the detent the interior does not matter.

    It's fine.
