Default Where to get handgun safe in or near Philly?

I have a baby, and thus need to secure my handguns before she becomes a toddler. Currently do the nightstand drawer thing. Have an idea of the brands/models I want, just wondering if anywere in or near town I can go see them in person rather than order online that has a decent selection.

    Note - I don't go into Walmarts.

    Thanks!

I just put one of these in:

    http://www.amazon.com/Stack-On-IWC-1..._bxgy_hi_img_b

...and before anyone says anything, yes I realize it will not keep out a determined burglar. I got it mostly for the same reason, keep the kidlings away but have the firearm where it's easy to get to when needed.

It installs easily, and has a decent locking mechanism. It can be easily hidden in a variety of places. Just don't use the supplied screws to fasten into the studs, get a good pair of lag bolts and drive them in with a socket driver.

SPAG has some, Classic Pistol has a couple of different models of GunVault.

If you only have one or two handguns to secure, the GunVault Mini or Deluxe are great for keeping kids out. The fingerpads are quick to use, but if the little one tries to get into it (and doesn't hit the jackpot of guesses on the "combo"), it's three tries and it locks itself out and the key is required to open it.

For around $100, it's a good option. I have one and it works great - have had it for many years.

Another option is a smaller 21 gauge steel box - made by AACFI sold in cabelas keyed or combo small or large (i got the large as its still small) under the name Secure It. These only fit 1 gun though.

Interestingly Gunvault has the same one (i am pretty sure comparing mine to the pics) called the nanovault and also Center of Mass sells the same (pretty sure) They sell from 30 to 35 i believe. They aren't the greatest lock design but will keep kids out. I keep a couple of keyed ones in our vehicles with the included cable in case of a quick smash and grab situation.

The best price i could find right now as Cabelas doesn't have them on sale is Optics Planet.

Do not get one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHMg58iD99w

This is a couple friends of mine that specialize in finding security faults in various things. This box has a very bad flaw that makes it incredibly insecure.

If it's just to secure it away from the toddler, walmart sells a winchester pistol box for $20. It's big enough for a couple pistols and a few boxes of ammo although I wouldn't trust it against a thief or fire.

I know you dont go to walmart, but you cant beat it for $20

Also check out Harbor Freight, they have a few safes on their website

I am quite pleased with my Fort Knox handgun safe/lockbox. It holds two guns pretty easily, it's made in the USA and it's probably about the heaviest steel you will find in this type of storage. It's a little pricey at $139, but I would buy one again. I'm not sure if you can find them locally, but Ft. Knox ships them UPS. It might be overkill just to keep little fingers out, but it will give some pretty good resistance to an average burglar if it's bolted down. The top is rolled over to make it more pry-resistant than the typical handgun safe. No electronics to worry about, either, it's a Simplex lock.

(Sorry if I screwed up that link)
