Dude starts flipping out. Jumps the counter, goes after the workers. Do you draw down on the threat, or just wait for the police?

I'd be very reluctant to join in with total strangers to act against someone else unless I was VERY clear on the situation. It's too easy to get caught up in an "arrest them all and let the court sort it out" situation.

Contact the police, and if possible, observe from a safe distance if you're willing to be involved as a witness in any legal proceedings that may result. Otherwise, just remove yourself as far and as quickly as possible.

x2. If I wanted to pull a gun on someone acting out in public to diffuse something, however psycho they might be, I'd have been a cop.

My first reaction was sarcasm. Let me make this clear, if nobody else has. If one thinks that this is anywhere near go time, (a) one may need to have a serious recalibration of one's antennae, and (b) a reconsideration of one's ballistic accouterments and their constant presence.

IMO it would be viewed as a questionable weapon. Stun guns are illegal in Philadelphia, btw.

What if CC happens to become OC?

The general public assumes men with guns, in a legit holster, are cops or some other law official. I haven't seen anybody intimidated by a thug with a nice leather or any form of holster.

Odds are this moron would think your a cop of some sort, so he's either going to fix his shit or make a move on the 'cop' himself, I never seen anyone ignore an LEO present at the time they were being unruly. They either end it or it becomes focused on the officer. Now if it's one of those times an actual officer would have had to use a taser, spray, or draw- we're not authorized to do any of those by trying to be a hero against someone without a weapon.

If it "happens" to appear that the firearm was revealed with the intent to intimidate or threaten, you could be in a jam too.

Now if it just happens to be OC already, maybe the situation wouldn't develop in the same manner.
