Default Please suggest a really bad-ass wheel gun.

    Hey guys,
So, I just saw the trailer for that new Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson movie, and now I NEED a sweet bad ass revolver. Trouble is I don't know much of anything about the wheel gun, other than S&W and Ruger are sure bets. This gun will not be specifically for carry or home defense, although it may be used for one or both, so the only pre-req is pure gnarly awesom-ness. I personally think short to mid-length barrels look the meanest, but any size or caliber (.357 and up, of course ) will be considered. So, what should I get???

Taurus Raging Bull, I'm terribly partial to Colt Pythons and Anacondas but they are very pricey!!!

If you want something purely for the look of being bad ass, might I suggest the smith 500.

I looked at one, I have no need for anything quite as . . . insane. Or expensive. But, personally, I think that is about as "bad-ass" as it gets in new model revolvers. Unless you want a mateba or something like that. I've always liked those.

Also, you might want to edit your post, to take the word ass out of it. No vulgarity in thread titles.

anything that makes a .44 magnum(which is a badass in its self) look like a pop gun. there are other pistols that look bad ass, but a revolver that has energy that's on par with a .308 is bad assed.

There is movie badass and there is real life badass. I prefer real life badass. I have three that I consider real awesome, and they are all chambered for .357. Here are some pictures:

The 8 shot, limited edition Smith and Wesson Performance Center 327 JM (Jerry Miculek limited edition, hard to find). Note the titanium barrel shroud and cylinder, the frame is Scandium / aluminum alloy. It weighs about as much as a Glock 19, yet has a five inch barrel:

The 8 shot (available in stores) Smith and Wesson 327 M&P R8 8 shot .357 Magnum Performance Center revolver. A bit heavier then the above JM, and a fantastic revolver.

Both of the above are cut for moon clips. Both have (or should have) fantastic and smooth double action trigger pulls. I own both of the above and love them dearly.

A revolver I do not own, yet I have shot and is badass is the Smith and Wesson 325 TR. The TR is for Thunder Ranch. This revolver is chambered in .45 ACP and has a four inch barrel. This is a super revolver, accurate and well balanced. This is on my short list of future ownership...

I really do not see much utility in carrying a big bore like the Ruger Alaskan for defense from people. Putting lead on target in a middle weight cartridge is more then sufficient in my opinion.

    for a truly badass-looking wheelie, you can't beat a S&W 500 magnum if you don't mind $3/rnd >.> S&W 500 Magnum "Bone Collector edition" here

it's not really useful for a carry gun though, even if i would happily OC one anyway.

There is bad assed then there is practical.

On the practical side, there is a bunch of .357's out there that will do what you wan with the added bonus of being able to shoot 38's through it.

If you just want bad assed you can start with a .44 magnum up through the 454 past the 460 to the Smith and Wesson 500.

How much money do you have to spend?
