    I think you'll find that as you do more leather work that dying before assembling is the way to go. Especially when you get into making projects with contrasting leather/thread.

    Also I can't say enough about finishing the edges of the leather. Grind the edges smooth, bevel, and use an edge coat of some sort. Just little steps to make your projects look like they are actually finished.

    Thank you all for the comments and advice. I am looking forward to making my next holster, I feel like I already know so much more about the process and things to do differently.

    realy nice job with the holster ,i do some leather work myself and i know how hard it is to do.

    the best glue you can buy for leather work is barge cement ,you get it at a shoemaker .i drill all my holes with a1/16 inch drill bit .then sew by hand with a leather needle and thread from tandy leather . follow the directions on the barge cement it is fantastic stuff .
