Default Grip safety for Rock Island

I recently traded for a Rock Island Armory 1911 with a 4" barrel. The gun shoots great, but the traditional grip safety spur really bites down into my hand. I want to swap it out with a beaver tail the curves up so it won't dig into my hand. Anyone have a spare one lying around that would fit a full size 1911? I'm posting this in the classified section as well.

I would suggest taking it to a 1911 pistol smith to have a grip safety fitted. The so called drop in fit grip safeties never look as good and still will require fitting to work correctly. Gunsmith fit grip safeties are fitted (blended) to your pistols frame.

You might just try gripping it a little different or bobbing the hammer to keep it from biting the web in your hand. Properly installed grip safeties can get expensive.

The hammer is not biting me, its the spur on the grip safety that's digging into my huge hands. I'm going to try to find a used part and see if it works with the loose-fitting Rock Island first. If it doesn't work, I'll take it to a gunsmith to get fitted. Thanks for the advice.

I don't have any used blue ones here right now but I do have a stainless one that looks good if you want to try it.

I also might suggest trying a wrap around rubber grip it might make your bear pawl hold the gun a little different and keep it from digging in. I have a couple here used you can have one of those to try to if you want one.
