OC with Charlie Dent
Today I went into Allentown to spend some time at the Woodcraft store turning pens for the troops. This is a project that has been going on for a number of years now, where woodturners make wood barreled pens to send to our troops overseas to let them know that we are thinking of them and support their efforts.
When I arrived at the store, Charlie Dent was in attendance, as well as another state rep whose name escapes me at the moment. The first question the store owner asked me as I entered, was, "Are you packing today?" He knows me well, and was not surprised at the answer. He told me Mr. Dent was in the classroom, and to go right back and say hello. So I did.
You'll have to take my word for it that I was OC, but there are enough people here to verify that if I say I was, I was. My arm is hiding my S&W revolver. Charlie was happy to see me of course, especially when I explained that I voted for him. I think the sight of the revolver startled him just a little bit though. We exchanged cards, a few pleasantries, and he posed for the pic above. I explained to him that I was so conservative, I didn't even like turning left while driving my truck. After my "photo op", he departed out the door to his next appointment, wherever that might be.
I made a few pens, helped some others, and stood around running my yap as I am wont to do on occasions like this. Overall it was a very enjoyable day.

Very cool Bill. Off topic a bit but, I use the pen you made for me everyday.

Good to see you getting out there and showing support for the troops.
Those wood pens are really nice too. I have had a few in the past, and loved them.I'm so fast, I can bump fire a bolt action.

Yeah, his performance at the debates was astounding.
Can't wait for him to keep on improving the PA-15.

Sounds like a great day, Pennsy. And helping the newbies and working on projects for the troops makes it even better.
You should have asked him to put on a different tie for the picture

Good deal, Bill! Just out of curiosity....did Charlie's "people" suggest that you cover your gun or is that merely where your fell for the pic?

Great Job on making such nice pens for our troops. I know I love mine.
+2 for him for standing on your strong side.

I also wondered if he would have "people" there watching him one way or another, either security or administrative attendants. If he did, they were completely invisible, or very well disguised as old curmudgeonly wood workers. As best as I could tell, it was just him. I was trying to work out how to get my gun into the picture, but short of throwing my arm around him, it wasn't going to work.
He did ask me if I was a firearms dealer. I replied that I was merely a woodworker, and then showed him some of my work on display at the store.
