Best Options for a Ruger Single Six Holster?
Just purchased a Ruger Single Six and would like to pick up a holster for it. Any recommendations for a holster? I'm looking for a sturdy, tight holster I can wear on my side and run around the mountains with.

Re: Best Options for a Ruger Single Six Holster?
You can go to midwayUSA and do a search for the ones they carry that fit the Single Six (BTW, great gun). Bianchi, Uncle Mikes, Galco, and many, many more make holsters for it. You can even get one from the Ruger store at their site.
It really depends on what you want and how you are going to use it. Do you want something with a flap that goes over the gun to protect it while you roaming the woods, do you want a real nice leather holster that complements the gun if wearing it around town OCing, etc? Once you figure that out you'll probably end up with a couple of different holsters .Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

I use a cheap Uncle Mikes to do the same. It has become a handy squirrel hunting rig.

Galco S A O
I've got the Galco SAO leather OWB for my Single Six, and most of my revolvers. Galco's SAO & DAO, Single action/Double action leather holsters. You can use it on belts up to 1 3/4". The gun fits in the holster perfect. Well made and top quality holsters.
It costs a little more than some, but it is an excellent rig.
Best part is the ability to wear it crossdraw. Perfect positioning for sitting, driving, riding...
Got mine through Optics Planet. www.opticsplanet.com Good prices and free shipping.

I have one and LOVE it. I use a western style holster and gun belt. Nice looking rig. My wife bought it for me through Cabelas , I think. Anyway, I can't wear it in the car, but can wear it on the bike. I put a leather thong loop on it as a 'hammer loop' retention device. Works extremely well.
Just a side note: If you put a 'cowboy' style gun, especially one as nice as a Ruger Single Six, in anything less than a low-slung, leather fast-draw rig, you lose serious 'man points'! I'm just sayin'!

I've always liked Hunter brand holsters for that type of revolver and use. I've got a 6" model that fits my NEF R92 and H&R Sportsman, and a much larger model for my Ruger Old Army. All leather, very secure and affordable.
