Gloves or mittens for hunting?
I am in the market for a new pair of gloves and I wanted to hear what some other people are using. Two years ago, I used glove liners and those cheap black gloves. This year, I'm thinking maybe glove liners again but this time maybe some mittens or those green wool army gloves.
What do yinz use?

I personally like the fingerless wool gloves with the mitten flap.

Re: Gloves or mittens for hunting?
i have some oversize gloves and UA glove liners under them.
at the first sign of activity they come off (liners stay on)
that said i'm thinking about switching to mittens they seem easier to get on and off

Re: Gloves or mittens for hunting?
I wear a pair of military flight gloves (nomex with leather palms and palm side of the fingers) under some nice mittens. That way, when I need to pull my hand out of the mitten when getting ready for the shot, my hands aren't exposed to the elements and I can get a good grip on the gun. You can get these at any Army-Navy store, Cheaper Than Dirt or The Sportsmans Guide.

Re: Gloves or mittens for hunting?
why decide :P I would get fingereless gloves that have the fold over. get ones that have magnets to hold them open if you can, velcro makes noise
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Gloves or mittens for hunting?
I carry about three or four pairs of cheap convenience store cotton gloves with me. If it starts to rain, one goes on the front of my scope. Pulls off easy enough and if I lose it, who cares. Not a fan of "flip up style" scope covers. Had one freeze up on me and missed an opportunity at a decent buck. If you take a break during the day, they can be dried on your dashboard in minutes.

Re: Gloves or mittens for hunting?
Years ago, there was a lady at church with arthritis in her hands. She knitted constantly and made me a custom pair of mittens with the trigger finger separate from the other four. She even traced my hands on paper and asked which hand I shot with. I can't tell you how many times I've repaired them with more yarn because I haven't found anything that works as well.

Re: Gloves or mittens for hunting?
My hands stay warm without gloves but when I'm feeling too lazy to battle the elements I'll use a cheap pair of wool, fingerless gloves with the mitten that folds over. Why, you ask? If it's REALLY cold I'll throw some hand warmers into the mitten part, they fit perfectly. When my fingers get cold I'll throw the mitten part over top of them and it's blazing hot .
