Nastiest fireball out of a pistol I've had so far was Pakistani 2z surplus (124gr +P+) 9mm out of a Glock 26. This is like 1 ft conical flame. Get's REAL visible at dusk.

If you really want to throw fireballs though, any short barreled rifle is where it's at. AR pistol is good for some nasty stuff. The worst flame thrower I possess is an AMD 65. This is a 12" barreled AK. Think like 12" fireballs out of both sides and maybe 1.5ft out of the front. It's pretty bad. Or "good" for this topic of discussion. No special ammo required. The 12" barrel with the side ports on the factory brake take care of all the hard work for you.

For flame thrower flash I use real BlackPowder ... those other powders are just a fad

If you reload ad some magnesium flash powder to the top of the powder. Will light up your life for sure.

    yeap.
350 slugs and a cup full of 296= fire ball as long as your arm, and the fire coming out the cylinder gap=larger than most other pistols muzzle flash.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

I've been shooting for a long time and reloading for almost as long. As for factory ammo the best stuff i have seen in hand guns is out of a short barrel .357 mag with remington 125g SJHP.

You are not going to be able to get extreme flash from factory loads, reloading allows any possibility from low flash clean buring rounds to very high pressure high flash glory.

Best thing ive seen/heard are lightfield 3.5in slugs from a short barrel shotgun.
Almost as loud as the 50 BMG!

Short-barrelled 9mm and something like Cor-bon, Gold Dot +P, Federal 9BPLE, etc are usually good for a great deal of flash.

.357 SIG in just about anything.....
