Default Fun but inexpensive things to shoot at.

Do you guys shoot at things other than paper targets? I do have some little metal spinner targets for .22, but even they get boring after a bit.

    Any suggestions?

We carefully drill holes in the center of clay pigeons and string them up to a shooting board. They have a pleasing reaction after getting struck by a 22.

Many ranges restrict what you can shoot at anymore.

Personally I enjoy filling up capped plastic soda bottles with water for targets. Anything from a small 16oz for .22 and such to the larger 2 liters for long shots with bigger guns are fun. Filled up to the top and tightly capped they 'come apart' rather well . Years ago at a hunters safety course I saw one of the 1 gallon retangular cans filled with water and capped get shot with a .30-06. Water went everywhere and the seams of the can all burst leaving a pretty flat piece of metal with 2 holes in it. It was a pretty impressive sight.

It has been awhile but I used to like to take a sheet of tin out to the range and try to write my initials in it with a .22.

This requires a bit of thought and certainly can't be done just anywhere , but get an ol clunker of a car , only has to run , stick it out at about 100yds , shooters get their weapon of choice "within reason" ,start the car , every shooter takes a turn taking a shot from the firing line "no benches or rests other than your body" , each shot the shooter takes cost him a quarter , last guy to fire before the car stops running gets the pot. Tow the car for scrap

As well they should. A couple years ago my wife and I cleaned up the remains of a TV picture tube some idiot shot to pieces on our .22 range. Personally, I am partial to water bottles filled with water and food coloring. Shot whatever you want...just pick up after yourself!!!

Oh I wasn't complaining I don't even like leaving my brass at the range even though I don't reload anymore. I can't stand finding litter in the field. I'm compelled to carry it out if I can.

Didn't mean to imply you were. I also police my brass and leave what I don't reload in a box at the shooting station for someone who can use it.
Amazing how fast those boxes disappear!
