Default PICS check good for permit. But denied gun purchase.

Hello im new to this board. Oct.8 2010 I applied for my LTFA at Media. The deputy said my PICS check was clean but I woulnt get a final determination for 45 days. Well today at PA gun show I was denied purchase. The automated system put the guy on to an operator who had us on hold for a good 12 minutes to the deny me. What gives?

There are "flaws" in the system. Could be anything. From someone with the same name mistakenly thought as you, to a cross eyed look at information. They process hundreds of checks daily, mistakes are bound to happen.

Best I can say is appeal it, I had to once. It took about 2 weeks. I believe they have a limit of 30 days to answer yes/no. (someone please correct me if I am wrong.)

    Good luck!

Happened to my son. He appealed and was approved in two weeks. His name came up the same as another person who was denied? Go figure!!!!!!!!!

If you want to legally own firearms, you'll have to petition to have your firearms rights restored. This process will likely cost you several thousand dollars in attorney's fees.

Misdemeanor of the first degree provides for a prison sentence of more than 1year. It doesn't matter if you actually were sentenced for a year in prison, or if the violation was non violent. Those convicted of a crime that carries a sentence for more that one year are disqualified from owning a firearm. I do believe such disqualification is outlined in the federal 4473.

You may have a difficult time getting your ability to own a gun restored.
