Thumbs up Enck's Gun Barn, Newsmanstown PA

On the recommendation of a few of my Cowboy Action Shooting friends, I took a drive out to Enck's Gun Barn yesterday. All I can say is I wish I had known about this store earlier. (Then again, my wallet is glad I didn't.) From my job in Collegeville, it was a 50+ mile drive through some very picturesque country side but the trip was well worth it.

I had contacted them via e-mail regarding a Cimarron hand gun, and when I arrived, the man behind the counter (Dave Enck) knew exactly what I was after. I talked at length to him and his wife, both are very knowledgeable and nice. I walked out with the gun I wanted, at a good price and a very nice feeling.

The shop isn't big, but I've been in smaller. It's very well stocked, and they even do some smithing.

Despite my 70 mile drive home, I had a great time and will be going back.

Yep. Nice store, good place to do business, nice folks in there.

...and, it is a real nice ride "out in the country" to get there and back.

They have a good website too that shows what guns they have in stock, in the store, which helps.

I'll second that. I used them for an FFL when I ordered a rifle off the internet. $20. Some people get so greedy with transfers, so I appreciated their low fee as well as their selection and manners. That little place is PACKED with boomsticks.

They're at 142 Chapel Rd, Newmanstown, PA 17073. The store is kind of situated between farms but if you're driving down Chapel Rd, you'll see it. They have a parking lot.

BTW, the piece I bought, a Cimarron Arms 'Man With No Name' 1851 Navy Conversion in .38 Special shot great. Shots were high, but well centered. No misfires and it looks really unique.

If you're using a GPS and getting on Chapel Road from route 897, the GPS doesn't take you far enough down Chapel Road. At least my Garmin didn't. Can't remember exactly, but the shop was probably a half mile or more past where the GPS thought it was. I asked the guys in the shop about it and they said you have to enter a different town (can't remember which one) for the GPS to get you to Enck's correctly. I suggested they put the GPS required address on their website.

I think even the map on their website mislocates them. Probably best to use the text directions provided on Enck's web site.
