What the heck is up with the alerts

I am getting both alerts of new posts (that just happened) but I am also getting alerts for posts that were made this morning and even yesterday.

What the heck is going on here?

Are the alerts from yesterday second copies of alerts you already received or are they your first notification? If the latter, check the headers of the mail to see what the delivery times look like. If you want a handle deciphering what's there, let me know.

Too many to check but for example in the "OK foodies thread" EmptyMags post showed up at 7:05 (right after he posted it) BUT Tootie's post (from 13 hours ago) showed up 2 minutes before I made this post.

The timestamps are correct on the emails but they are showing up 11-12 hours later

There's a hop in those headers where it leaves PAFOA and hits your mail server. Is there a significant time lapse between those two hops? Also, does it look like the late arrivals and the timely arrivals are timestamped on your server all around the same time, or are those times spread out significantly?
