Default Opinions & Reviews on ArmaLite AR-30

I'm hopeful some of you may be able to give me some feedback on ArmaLite's AR-30. This particular model is equipped with a 26" barrel, chambered in .300 Win Mag, and comes w/ a decent scope (although I'm not sure of the exact specs of the scope.) It does not come with a bipod which is an additional $250 through ArmaLite.

It is a year or two old, but has never had a round fired through it. It was laser bore sighted when the scope was mounted, but other than that it is mint.

A friend of mine is willing to sell it to me for around $1,600. They are $1,750+ new, and that is without a scope.

I'm planning on picking the AR-30 up tomorrow if all goes as planned. I hope to break it in on Friday or Saturday.

I understand not many people have AR30's, but I figured it was at least worth a try to post on here seeking opinions. All of the reviews I read online were outstanding.

I'll try to post pictures up later.

    Some pics.

Only put 7 rounds through it so far, haven't had a chance to get back up to the farm yet. I'm still sighting it in, and breaking in the barrel, so I can't speak for it's accuracy. I can say that it is loud. Very loud. Armalite recommends 2 layers of ear protection, and I can see why.

    My buddy has the 338LM.
Absolutly the most accurate out of the box factory rifle that i have ever shot. We have fired 5 different kinds of factory ammo and none of them have been more than 1MOA groups. Yes, 5 different kinds of ammo, all hitting damn near the same place with out adjusting the scope.
We now need to find some distance, and really stretch it's legs.

I would have liked to have the 338 Lapua Magnum. The deal on this 300 Win Mag was too good to pass up. In addition, none of the nearby ranges go over 1k yards, so the 338 would have been overkill. Sweet, sweet overkill. Lol.

Hell of a deal that one of the Perks of buying used cheaper slightly and already fixed up close to how you may like it.

AR-30 a AR in 308 damn that sounds nice just to say.

Its not an "AR", its a bolt gun.
You are thinking of an AR10, which is still pretty damn damn fun....and next on the build list.
Having like minded friends is great, but peer pressure's a bitch, an expensive bitch LOL

The AR-30s are good shooting rifles. I find them to be Fugly, but very functional. Not a lot of aftermarket support for the AR-30.

I actually find it to be stunningly attractive in a mechanical way of sorts. Lol.
