Here are a few real short vids of me breaking/sighting in the AR-30:

Still have not had a chance to finish breaking it in yet. It is a busy week at work. Hopefully next week.

The muzzle blast coming off the brake is sweet in that first video.

Yeah, that's why I posted that one first. From that angle, it looks awesome. I need to get another slow-motion video camera and see if I can catch the flames coming out the sides of the brake. That would be wild.

Booyah. Would be even better if you can shoot in the dark...

Good point. I could do that, although I generally work nights.

A guy at our club has one of these in .308.

With his handloads its Minute of Pubic hare with 3 shots going into one neat lil hole. He even shot a case through from neck to primer at 200yrds. It blew out the side of the case, but I wouldnt complain.

Good, that's what I like to hear. I only hope I am half as good of a shot as him.

When I was on ArmaLite's website yesterday, I noticed the price of the AR-30 had gone up nearly $300 to $2,021. Wow, for the first time in my life, I lucked out!

Trust me when I tell you he doesnt do this by accident.

He uses shot timers, notebooks, wind meters(optional),2k scope, etc. The "knowing" of what the gun will do is half the battle. Once you know what it will do you can then focus on doing your part right. I have a target AR and can get 1.6" groups at 200yrds with cheap off the shelf ammo. Personally Im not happy with this but it sure is fun to see peoples reaction when you show them the target you shot that they couldn't even see, let alone how tight your group was.

I can't believe it's been about 7.5 years since I made this thread. Seems just like yesterday I was signing up on PAFOA!

An update- I still have the AR30. Barely ever shoot it though. It was very finicky when extracting, turned out it just liked to have a good bit of lube on the bolt face. I would shoot it more, but the AR15/10 bug bit me, now I'm not as big of a fan of bolt action guns as I was. Of all my guns, it is definitely the most favorite of all my friends. Any time we go shooting, they always ask "Did you bring the big one?". Lol.
