Re: H & R Model 929
The hand does come out to try to turn the cylinder? Does the bolt drop to allow the cylinder to turn?
Hows the ratchet look on the cylinder?
Check the engagement between the hand and ratchet. If they seem to mesh up, look to see if the bolt drops to unlock the cylinder. If it doesn't, then the gun needs to be taken apart, cleaned, retimed, and new springs installed.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: H & R Model 929
1967 is your gun's birth year.
As for not firing, it looks like your hammer's pin is ok. Look for indents on the rim recesses for each chamber. If it has been dryfired enough they could be peened which will prohibit proper igniting of the primer in the rims.
If the cylinder looks good, its possible you need a new main spring. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/...50E&catid=7927
It may be possible something is within the action causing drag on the hammer fall, or that the main spring assembly isn't together properly. The pin at the base that holds the spring retainer has been known to break or come out - causing the spring to not have the full tension on the hammer.
If the mainspring assembly is the type with the plastic head, the head could be warn or broken.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: H & R Model 929
I shot my 929 in a steel challange match a week ago and got more than enough mis-fires while firing double-action.
I started shooting single action and still have a couple mis-fires, but not as bad.
I have a steel hammer spring coming from Numrich....
