Sounds like an instructor trying to make more money in a saturated market. Like all of the instructors who objected to Arizona having constitutional carry, because it would effect their business to not have them as a clearing house for using your rights.

As a Cert. NRA Instructor now this being my 20th year and who has never excepted 1 red cent for his time in all these years helping the public.........Personally I find it offensive that some of us resort to turning this into a money making scheme........OMO.

Re: Florida no longer accepting DD214 or Hunter Safety??
Seems like any person making a false report should be reported to the FL Dept of Agriculture for possible violation of their duties as a licensed instructor as they may have committed a professionalism violation.

Re: Florida no longer accepting DD214 or Hunter Safety??
We contacted Florida and received this response from Florida
Good morning, gbrown221:
There has been a recent change in our policy concerning active military
IDs. I will explain this change in just a moment. However, rest
assured that there has been no other change in either the law or in our
Division's policies and procedures concerning the acceptability of the
other kinds of training documentation in question (DD 214 certificates,
hunter safety certificates, active duty/retired law-enforcement officer
documentation). Any of these items will satisfy the documentation of
firearms proficiency requirement for the Florida concealed weapon
license.
For many years, we told active-duty military personnel that they would
be able to confirm firearms proficiency with a copy of their military
IDs. We recently revised our application instructions and deleted this
reference to military IDs. We did this because several military
personnel pointed us to the federal law that prohibits members of the
Armed Forces from copying their military identification cards.
Active-duty military personnel can now submit either of the following
documents to confirm firearms proficiency:
* a copy of servicemember's military orders including the letter
calling the service member to active-duty;
* a statement of military service signed by the base's personnel
officer or commander of the servicemember's unit. This letter must
identify the applicant specifically and provide his/her date of
entry on the current tour of active duty.
I want to emphasize that we will not deny an application for inadequate
training documentation if a servicemember provides us with a copy of his
military ID. However, our Legal Section believes that our specifically
asking service members to provide copies of their military IDs violates
the restrictions in federal law.
Obviously, I cannot say precisely how Dr. Eimer may have obtained this
incorrect information. Perhaps he misunderstood something he read on
our webpage; perhaps he received incorrect information from elsewhere on
the Internet. I can certainly send him an e-mail with the information
that I have included in my communication with you; however, I cannot
compel him to change anything he publishes on his webpage. We have no
regulatory authority over Dr. Eimer or anyone else who provides the
qualifying training for the concealed weapon license.
If you have any other questions, please get back in touch with me at
your convenience.
Sincerely,
Ken Wilkinson

Re: Florida no longer accepting DD214 or Hunter Safety??
Sounds like you guys got to the bottom of it. Good work!
There's so much misinformation going around out there these days regarding training. There's still some instuctors who are not following the live fire requirement for Florida. I wish that there was some national regulatory group for instructors that could keep things on the up and up.
