    Default Christmas Pistol Dilema!!

So my girlfriend is going to get me a gun for Christmas, just what I've always wanted. Her only caveat is that it has to cost less than $300ish. That's fine by me. I just have to figure out what I'm going to get her...

In that price range I've been considering a few things. I've always wanted an NAA Black Widow as a fun gun. I just think they are so cool, and everyone who has the NAA mini revolvers seems impressed with their quality. And no, I'm not gonna strap it on my hip and carry it. Maybe BUG duty... maybe.

I'm also thinking Kel Tec. I've had KTs in the past and always regret getting rid of them once they go. I'm really trying to determine if I can pocket a PF9. I need to go figure that out. If I can it's a pretty easy choice. If not it's P3AT or P32 time. For those of you that just turned up your nose at the P32, the only reason I consider it is because my girlfriend LOVED the last one I had, and that would be a very good thing because I could actually get her to shoot it, and I could leave it at home with her.

Aside from that I'm open to suggestions. I'd prefer a fun piece (Like the Black Widow) or a pocket pistol. Let me know what you guys think.

ETA: I've wanted the Black Widow for a long time, it's just so cool! But it really isn't as practical as a pocketable pistol. But it's CHRISTMAS! I WANNA HAVE FUN!

How about the Ruger LCP? I think it's fit and finish is leagues better than the P3AT and you should be able to find one for under $300.

I have the hard chrome version with a few upgrades - polished feed ramp, 12lb Wolff spring, and Pearce grip extensions. It's an awesome pocket carry piece and mine has been extremely reliable.

Do you have any handguns chambered in .22LR? A lot of decent .22s are in that price range. Obviously you aren't going to use a .22 for anything other than practice at the range but I've come to find .22 is a great caliber to take to the range and is dirt cheap to shoot.

If you're into Glocks the ISSC Austria M22 is a very 'Glock like' .22

The Puma M1911-22 has received good reviews.

The Ruger 22 is another great choice. It's a pain to clean but the cost of the ammo makes up for it in my book.

The black widow would be interesting. Never shot .22 through a revolver...

I have a Ruger MKIII, one of the sweetest .22 autos you can get. I have no need for a .22 auto pistol.

The NAA is just a cool little thing. I'd get long rifle and magnum cylinders if I were to get it.

You've already got the .22 pistol covered, so my choice would be a PF9.

You can pocket carry the PF9. I'm not a big fan of pocket carry, but with the right holster it can be done quite easily. I carry my PF9 in a Don Hume IWB holster and I don't even notice it's there most times.

You could always get two Hi-Points!!! If you don't want to go that route, I would suggest the Ruger LCP.

I know this thread is in the pistols section, so I assume you are only looking at handguns, right?

If not, keep the Ruger 10/22 in mind. It's a fun shooting 22lr autoloader.

If you buy used, you can get some amazing buys. I only buy gently used pistols and have done quite well.

For <$300 new, I'm thinking LCP. You can shop the local fun shops for a used handgun, or maybe a long gun, like an AK.

You mentioned the Black Widow the most in your posts here. Sounds like you want that the most.
