That is a great pre-lock hammer mounted firing pin Smith. Great find... if you are looking for a great holster check out:

That is similar to the 70s FBI 3" barrel 357 mag but it was blue, very nice the 4" blue was a model 13. What was the blue 3" designated?

I like those 3" inchers also.

I have the same holster and its a quality piece. However, the way the belt loops are spaced sometimes make it ride funny on certain pants - and I also find it a bear to break in. I've had it about 4 months now and its still not broke in.

The barrel length did not change the model number with the Smith revolvers. The model 13 in 3 inches is still a model 13.

    I hope that helps...

Congrats! The 3" K frame 357 is a sweet balance in terms of size vs. barrel length vs. carry piece.

NOTE: Do yourself and the revolver a favor and DO NOT fire < 130 gr 357 loads in it. A steady diet of 125 gr 357s have been known to result in cracked barrel forcing cones. Stick with 147s & 158s, and that goes for 38 Spl +P, too.

I have heard about the problem with 125 grain 357's, but I cant understand why the same would hold true with 38's? If that were the case I would think any 357 load would be problematic...
