Kooky idea...but might it be effective?
A while back I had a kooky idea, but one that I think might be rather effective...
Many times I've seen the little placard "Don't mind the dog, mind the owner!" with the revolver portrait printed on it. A statement that this house is armed. (Or at least wishes it was.)
I had the idea of delivering a clear and bold statement. Just not sure if it's too kooky. (It was sort of Christmas inspired.) Remember when you put the popcorn on the string and hung it on the Christmas Tree?
What about instead of a bell chime on your door. How about a string of brass shells. Anyone looking to break into a house and scopes out the front door will receive the clear message "we are armed". And move on to our neighbor's house instead.
Thoughts?
Would this just be silly? Or effective.

alot of people dont like to advertise they have guns for obvious reasons.. i've got a ''protected by smith and wesson'' and an NRA sticker on my front door though.

Cute... Perhaps effective... Yet quite tacky.

i've always viewed these signs as saying:
"hey there, mr. bad guy, there are free untraceable weapons to be had in this house. all you gotta do is stake the place out for a bit to make sure no one is home...then you can help yourself."
i'd view the windchimes made of spent brass in much the same way.

That's along the same line as the shotgun shell Christmas lights.
You can make them,

or you can buy them.

(I wouldn't have them, but other people obviously would).

I don't want strangers to know I have weapons.
